BrightDrop Electric Vans
New Electric Cargo Vans
$25,996 After The Maine Rebate
Twenty new 2024 BrightDrop Zevo 400 all-wheel-drive electric cargo vans in Arundel. $39,996 each — less the $14,000 Efficiency Maine commercial van rebate, taken right off at the time of sale.
The Math, Before Anything Else
I'm Ryan, the GM here at Weirs in Arundel. I'll skip the windup, because the number is the story.
| Our price, per van | $39,996 |
| Efficiency Maine rebate | -$14,000 |
| Your cost | $25,996 |
Plus doc fee, title and applicable taxes. Rebate requires Efficiency Maine preapproval before purchase and an off-peak charger. See the requirements below.
Twenty-Six Thousand Dollars
For a brand-new, purpose-built, all-wheel-drive electric cargo van with 412 cubic feet of space and a factory warranty. Not a converted passenger van. Not a used one.
That's less than a well-equipped half-ton pickup, and it's a number that exists because of a state program that ends September 30. After that, it doesn't.
Why the rebate is $14,000 and not $12,000: Efficiency Maine pays $14,000 when the battery pack is over 100 kWh and $12,000 when it's under. Every 2024 Zevo was built with either a 121 kWh or a 173 kWh pack — both comfortably over the line. There is no version of this van that lands in the lower tier.
Here's The Part Most People Miss
Almost everyone who calls about this thinks they have until September 30 to walk in and buy a van. You don't.
Efficiency Maine requires preapproval before you purchase, and processing takes up to five business days. You also have to buy your off-peak charger before you buy the van. Stack those and the real cut-off to start is a lot closer than the calendar suggests.
1 · Preapproval
Apply online with Efficiency Maine. Up to five business days to get your letter back.
2 · Charger
Ordered through Efficiency Maine, before the vehicle purchase. One per rebated van.
3 · Delivery
Rebate comes off as a time-of-sale discount here at Weirs. Must be done by September 30.
Translation: if your preapproval isn't started by roughly the third week of September, you're cutting it too fine. Call us and we'll walk the paperwork with you — including the charger order, which is the step where most of these stall.
Does Your Business Qualify?
The rules on the enhanced van rebate are tighter than Efficiency Maine's standard EV rebate. Run this list before you spend time on an application.
You're In If
- You're a Maine business or nonprofit in Good Standing with the Secretary of State
- You're a business corporation, nonprofit corporation, LLC, limited partnership or LLP
- You have an office in Maine
- The van is for commercial use only, not personal use
- You can install an off-peak charger where the van normally parks, and connect it to Wi-Fi within 90 days
Where People Get Tripped Up
- No charger, no rebate. If you can't put a charger where the van sleeps, Efficiency Maine says you're ineligible. That's the first thing to sort out, not the last.
- The charger comes first. Ordered through Efficiency Maine before the van, and you bring the confirmation with you.
- Good Standing is checkable. If your annual report is late with the Secretary of State, fix that before you apply.
- Sole proprietorships aren't on the eligible list. Corporation, nonprofit, LLC, LP or LLP.
Two more things worth knowing. There's no MSRP cap on this rebate — Efficiency Maine specifically exempts the enhanced commercial van rebate from the $80,000 ceiling that applies to their standard EV rebate. And the federal Section 45W commercial credit is gone, terminated for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. This state rebate is the money that's left, and it's leaving too.
Maine municipalities, school districts and other governmental entities have a parallel program at the same $12,000–$14,000 level. If you're a town manager or facilities director reading this, you're in the game — call me and we'll sort out which track you're on.

Twenty Of The Same Van Is The Whole Point
Most of the time a dealer having twenty of one thing is a problem. For a fleet buyer it's the opposite — it's the only way you get a fleet that actually behaves like a fleet.
Every one of these is the same 2024 Zevo 400 in eAWD, same Oyster White, same Jet Black cloth interior, same equipment. That means one driver training, one set of upfit drawings, one parts shelf and one charging spec across your whole operation. Try assembling that out of a used-van search and you'll spend six months and end up with four different configurations.
All-Wheel Drive
Every unit is eAWD. In Maine that isn't a nice-to-have on a delivery van in January — it's the reason the route gets run.
New, With Warranty
These have never been titled or registered. Full factory warranty, full battery life, nothing behind them.
Here Now, Not Ordered
No allocation, no build slot, no six-month wait. Twenty on one lot, twenty minutes from Portland.
What A Zevo 400 Actually Is
A purpose-built electric cargo van on GM's Ultium platform — not a converted gas van with the engine pulled out. It was designed from a blank sheet around parcel and last-mile work: low step-in height, a cargo box tall enough to stand in, and a flat floor with no driveshaft tunnel eating into the load space.
| Spec | 2024 BrightDrop Zevo 400 |
|---|---|
| Drivetrain | eAWD (all-wheel drive) — every unit we have |
| Cargo volume | 412 cu ft |
| Cargo length / width | 117.51 in / 83.68 in |
| Wheelbase | 153 in |
| GVWR | 9,990 lb or 11,000 lb, depending on configuration |
| Max payload | up to 2,650 lb (with the 11,000 lb GVWR package) |
| AWD curb weight | 7,520 lb |
| DC fast charging | up to 160 miles of range per hour at 120 kW |
| Exterior / interior | Oyster White / Jet Black cloth |
| Equipment | Adaptive cruise, heated seats, heated steering wheel, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, keyless entry and ignition |
Battery And Range
The 2024 Zevo was built with one of two Ultium packs. Both matter for range, and both clear the 100 kWh line for the full $14,000 rebate.
| Pack | Capacity | EPA City / Hwy / Combined | Rebate Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14-module (standard) | 121 kWh | 178 / 135 / 159 mi | $14,000 |
| 20-module (max range) | 173 kWh | 303 / 234 / 272 mi | $14,000 |
EPA ratings for 2024 Zevo AWD. Capacities are GM estimates. Range differs substantially between the two packs — give us a stock number and we'll pull the window sticker on that specific van so you know exactly what you're buying.
A straight answer about winter range. Cold weather costs you range in any EV, and a loaded van in February will not see the EPA number. If your route is under about 100 miles a day and the van sleeps on a charger at your yard, one of these works here — that covers most delivery, service, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, catering and nonprofit routes in York and Cumberland County. If your crew runs 250 miles a day up I-95 in January, I'll tell you to buy a Savana instead. I'd rather lose the sale than sell you the wrong van.
Why These Work In Southern Maine
Short, Dense Routes
A lot of the commercial work around Portland, South Portland, Biddeford, Saco and Kennebunk runs 40 to 90 miles with a hundred stops. That's exactly where an electric van beats a gas one — no fuel burned idling at every stop, and regen braking gives range back all day.
Overnight Charging At The Yard
The rebate requires an off-peak charger anyway, and most Southern Maine fleets park in one place overnight. That's the setup that makes an electric van genuinely cheap to run — charging on off-peak rates while the crew's home.
All-Wheel Drive, Every Unit
Every van here is eAWD and the battery sits low in the floor. We'd still put a proper winter tire package on any commercial van running Route 1 and the back roads in January.
We're at 1513 Portland Rd in Arundel — twenty minutes from Portland, ten from Biddeford, five from Kennebunk. If you want to put one in front of your shop and let your drivers walk around it, we'll bring it to you.

Financing And Trade-In
We finance commercial vehicles every day, and we'll write it as a straight retail purchase titled in the business name — which is what the rebate requires anyway. If you're replacing gas vans, bring them in. We'll appraise your trades and net them against the deal. A trade plus the $14,000 moves the payment a long way, and on a multi-unit deal we'll structure the whole group at once.
Questions We Get
How much is the Efficiency Maine commercial electric van rebate?
$14,000 for a van with a battery over 100 kWh, $12,000 for under. Every 2024 BrightDrop Zevo was built with either a 121 kWh or a 173 kWh pack, so these land in the $14,000 tier. The rebate is applied as a discount at the time of sale, not a tax credit you claim later. It expires September 30, 2026.
When exactly does the $14,000 rebate expire?
September 30, 2026 — but the practical deadline is earlier. Efficiency Maine requires preapproval before you purchase and processing can take up to five business days, and the off-peak charger has to be ordered before the vehicle. If you haven't started your application by about the third week of September, you're unlikely to close in time.
Who qualifies?
A Maine business corporation, nonprofit corporation, LLC, limited partnership or LLP in Good Standing with the Maine Secretary of State, with an office in Maine. The van must be new, for commercial use only, and you must be able to install an off-peak charger where the van regularly parks. Maine governmental entities have a parallel program at the same levels. Sole proprietorships are not on the eligible entity list.
Do I have to buy a charger to get the rebate?
Yes. You purchase an off-peak charger through Efficiency Maine for each rebated van, before you buy the van, and bring the order confirmation to the dealership. It has to be installed where the van is normally parked and connected to Wi-Fi within 90 days of purchase. If you can't install a charger at that location, Efficiency Maine considers you ineligible — so sort that out first.
These are 2024s. Are they actually new?
Yes. They've never been titled, never been registered, and never been retail sold — they're on manufacturer's statements of origin with delivery mileage only. They're new vehicles with full factory warranty. The 2024 model year is why the price is what it is.
Is there an MSRP cap on the rebate?
No. Efficiency Maine specifically notes that vehicles receiving this enhanced commercial van rebate are not subject to the $80,000 MSRP cap that applies to their standard EV rebate.
Can I still get the federal EV tax credit?
No. The federal Section 45W commercial clean vehicle credit was terminated for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. The Efficiency Maine rebate is what remains, and it expires September 30, 2026. Talk to your accountant about how a commercial vehicle purchase affects your return.
How far will one go in a Maine winter?
EPA rates the 2024 Zevo 400 AWD at 159 miles combined with the 121 kWh pack and 272 miles combined with the 173 kWh pack. Cold weather and a full load will pull real-world numbers below that on any EV. For routes under about 100 miles a day with overnight charging at your own yard, these are comfortably within range. For 250-mile daily highway runs they're the wrong tool, and we'll say so.
Can I buy more than one?
Yes, and we'd like you to — there are twenty identical units here. One thing to check with Efficiency Maine at preapproval: their standard rebate rules limit an entity to two rebates per 36 months, and the commercial van page doesn't state a separate limit. Ask them directly before you plan on rebates for more than two, and call us either way — the price applies to all twenty.
Who services an electric van in Maine?
We do, right here in Arundel. Our service and parts departments are on site. An electric drivetrain means no oil changes, no exhaust, no transmission service, and brakes that last far longer because regen does most of the stopping.
Can I lease instead of buy?
Efficiency Maine's business rebate rules point to purchasing and titling the vehicle in the business name rather than leasing. Confirm your structure with them at preapproval and we'll build the deal to match.
